⏪ Unit 4 · Grammar 2 · WAS o WERE
Was y were son el verbo to be en pasado. Quieren decir era, estaba, fue, estuvo.
Regla corta: si la palabra está en singular (una cosa) → was.
Si está en plural (con s: cookies, chips, hands, friends) → were.
Trampa: You siempre lleva were, aunque sea una sola persona.
Y ojo con las palabras que ya son plurales sin parecerlo: noodles, chips, shoes → were.
Preguntas con How
- How was the music? → It was beautiful.
- How were the chips? → They were salty.
- How was your lunch? → It was great!
- How were your noodles? → They were spicy!
Si la respuesta empieza con It was, la pregunta era How was…?
Si empieza con They were, la pregunta era How were…?
🎯 Unit 5 · Grammar 2 · Infinitive of Purpose
Sirve para decir PARA QUÉ se usa algo. La fórmula es sencilla:
alguien + use + their + parte del cuerpo + TO + verbo
- Kangaroos use their pouches to carry their babies.
- Elephants use their trunks to shower.
- I go to the river to fish.
- I go to the desert to see camels.
- Spiders use their webs to catch food.
- Turtles use their shells to protect them.
- Frogs use their strong legs to jump.
- Giraffes use their long tongues to clean their ears.
Los 3 errores que más se cometen:
- ❌ to flying → ✅ to fly (después de TO el verbo va sin -ing)
- ❌ for fly → ✅ to fly (no se usa for con verbo)
- ❌ Birds use their wings fly → ✅ Birds use their wings to fly (no se puede quitar el TO)
Para escribir tu propia oración, contestá esta pregunta: ¿qué parte del cuerpo usa el animal y para qué?
Bats use their ears to hear. · Camels use their humps to store fat. · Birds use their wings to fly.
